STUDENT HEALTH

Our students’ health is of utmost importance to us in Medicinska Föreningen. We therefore take active action to safeguard both the mental and physical health of our students.

Mental Health

Do you struggle with stress, performance or exam anxiety, fear of speaking in front of others, anxiety, relationship problems, alcohol problems, difficulty sleeping, depression or do you need someone to talk to? There is help available to make you feel better!

Student Health Office at Lund University

Student health office at Lund University is the general student health service for all students at the university. Here you can find counselors, nurses, psychologists and psychiatrists, who will guide you towards the kind of help you need and deserve. The services are free and all of the staff has a duty of confidentiality.

Counselors at the Faculty of Medicine

At the Faculty of Medicine, we have our very own counselors. The counselors works under a duty of confidentiality and all appointments are free of charge. Contact with the counselor is initiated through the study counselor.

Student Priests

Regardless of faith, you’re always welcome to individual conversations with the Student Priests. All student priests have a duty of confidentiality, the talks are free of charge and do not have to be about faith or religion. On the contrary, many turn to the Student Priests to talk about their everyday lives, anxious events, worries or life in general.

Physical Health

The association and its education council are responsible for choosing student safety representatives (SSO) for the various programs and study places where we represent students. An SSO is a student who works for a good work environment, collaborates with the board’s Head of Student Health, maintains good contact with the premise managers at the Biomedical Center in Lund and the Clinical Research Center in Malmö, and forwards students to the correct instance if help is needed.

The main responsibility for an SSO is thus to work for the improvement of the work environment. This can be done by trying to identify problems and shortcomings in the premises students study in, as well as presenting them at meetings called by the Faculty of Medicine or Region Skåne. You as a student can also turn to an SSO if you experience deficiencies in premises or security during in all educational buildings; both in clinical internships and in a laboratory environment, as well as during more traditional teaching in lecture halls.

Have you noticed any shortcomings in your education regarding your mental or physical health? Send us an errand report!
